The Marlinspike was originally designed as a nautical tool used to splice ropes, untie knots, or form toggles/handles. But don't let that fool you, this versatile tool has seen its fair share of work in a number of other industries. Made from 4140 chromoly steel and heat treated to 50 on the Rockwell scale, this thing is a true beast ready to tackle any situation. 4140 is a universally tough steel designed for impact resistance and fracture resistance from repeated stress. The retention rings at the front of the spike along with finger grooves at both ends ensure a non slip grip in slick conditions. The spike is topped off with a scratch and corrosion resistant matte black oxide finish.
The included sheath is a bison brown 8 oz foldover leather, stitched with a waxed nylon thread and sealed with 4 black eyelets in our standard universal hole pattern (Compatible with any mounts sold in our gear store). The Leather is finished with an acrylic resolene to ensure maximum water and wear resistance. (Disclaimer: sheath color shade and finish may vary. Sheath may need additional wet molding)
